Legacies
The Perse simply would not exist without a legacy.
Our foundation depended on a generous provision to support education in the will of Dr Stephen Perse, one of Cambridge's greatest benefactors. We are privileged to be able to look back on a tradition of over 400 years of learning and achievement thanks to this gift.
It is our responsibility to meet the challenges of the future as successfully as we have met those of the past. Legacy gifts offer donors the opportunity to make larger gifts that might not otherwise be possible during your lifetime.
Leaving a gift to The Perse in your will is one of the most powerful ways you can support The Perse.
Making a will doesn’t have to be difficult and we hope that, once you’ve taken care of your loved ones, you’ll consider a gift in your will to support the future of The Perse. Your gift will help to safeguard the legacy of Dr Perse for future generations of Perseans, making sure that an excellent education remains open to children from all financial backgrounds.

FAQs
What if I have already made my will?
If you have already made a will and wish to amend it, this can be done simply by adding a codicil. The School can provide an example codicil form upon request, but we would advise you speak to a solicitor if you are unsure about any aspect of amending your will.
What if my assets are not in the UK?
Please seek advice from a local lawyer as the relevant local laws will apply. OPs and Friends based in the United States can make a legacy gift via the British Schools and Universities Foundation (BSUF) and avail themselves of the same tax benefits as if they were leaving a legacy to a US charity.
How will my gift be recognised?
We would be delighted to show our appreciation for your gift by inviting you to join our Dr Perse Society for legators. The Society was formed to celebrate the special commitment of our legators, and enjoys special events throughout the year.
Are there tax benefits of donating in my will?
Your estate can pay Inheritance Tax at a reduced rate of 36% on some assets if you leave 10% or more of the net value to charity in your will. We recommend speaking to a solicitor for advice about this, and reading the HMRC website.
